A new parkrun will be starting soon near Waimiari Beach – see course map. They will be doing a ‘trial run’ ahead of time on Sun 11 Sept 0800 and are looking for runners and volunteers to come along and participate. If you are interested in running or volunteering at the ‘trial run’, please fill out this form so they can get a rough idea of numbers and can contact you if anything changes. On the morning, assemble at Broad Park public toilets at 0750 for the usual parkrun preamble. After the run there will be a coffee and debrief at the Brighton Beach House. For any questions, contact Hayden Zervos (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Lisa McGonigle (email@example.com).

The road season is kicking off with the Canterbury Road Champs hosted by Athletics Canterbury. The race has headed back to Landfill Road for 2022. The laps will either be 1km, 2km or, in the case of the men’s race 2.5km. The course is fully certified. It is a flat road course, so an ideal speed course.
This Championship event offers registered athletic club runners and affiliated clubs in the region the opportunity to be selected to represent Canterbury in National Road Championships. While the race is open to all competitors, those wishing to be considered for selection must be an Athletics NZ registered member.
