New parkrun at Waimairi

Trial run Sun 11 Sept 0800

A new parkrun will be starting soon near Waimiari Beach – see course map. They will be doing a ‘trial
run’ ahead of time on Sun 11 Sept 0800 and are looking for runners and volunteers to come along
and participate. If you are interested in running or volunteering at the ‘trial run’, please fill out this
form
so they can get a rough idea of numbers and can contact you if anything changes. On the morning,
assemble at Broad Park public toilets at 0750 for the usual parkrun preamble. After the run there will be a coffee and debrief at the Brighton Beach House.

Junior race call – Port Hills under 18 XC

This Cross Country Race allows our young runners to meet and enjoy the flat fast course around Hansen Park.  Athletes compete in  their normal age grades: 

2km race – 2.00 pm start for all U12 grades 

3km race – 3.00 pm start for all U14 to U18 grades

Selwyn Relays

West Melton – Saturday, 27 August 2022

NEW EVENT FOR 2022!

The Selwyn Relay @ The Willows is a new event for 2022 and open to participants of all ages. Set in the Willows Recreation area, this new event is run by the Selwyn Athletic Club. It is a mixture of shingle stop bank roads, undulating single track and forest trails with one lap covering approx. 2.5km. The course is described as flat grassy parkland with some running on bitumen paths. Spikes not recommended.

Teams are made up of 3 runners, the juniors will run one lap and the seniors two.

Canterbury Road Champs

BURWOOD FOREST PARK – 20 AUGUST 2022

CLUB ENTRIES ARE CLOSED: ON THE DAY ENTRIES AVAILABLE

The road season is kicking off with the Canterbury Road Champs hosted by Athletics Canterbury. The race has headed back to Landfill Road for 2022. The laps will either be 1km,  2km or, in the case of the men’s race 2.5km. The course is fully certified.  It is a flat road course, so an ideal speed course.

This Championship event offers registered athletic club runners and affiliated clubs in the region the opportunity to be selected to represent Canterbury in National Road Championships. While the race is open to all competitors, those wishing to be considered for selection must be an Athletics NZ registered member.

For those who would like to enter but have missed the Club entries, you can enter on the day. Entries are taken up to 45 minutes before race start for a cash fee of $10 for Adults and $5 for Juniors
