Kennett Cup Steeples

The Kennett Cup is considered the South Island Champs and is the first event on the calendar to offer medals. It kicks off at 1:15pm on Saturday 10th July with the U14 & U16 grades. The Ascot Park course contains steeples which allow you a slightly shorter route or you can go flatter and longer around them. More information regarding the event can be found here.

Entries need to be in by 7:00pm Monday 5th July.

Mid Winter Dinner

Our social director Bee, has come up with the great idea of beating the winter chills by having a club get together. Nothing like a curry and good company on a cold winter’s night, especially after a hard run at the Kennett Cup in the afternoon. Come along to Corianders in Sumner (Wakefield Ave) on Saturday 10th July, 6:00pm.

The banquet menu will be a starter (an onion bhaji, samosa, and chicken tikka); a main dish; basmati rice; plain naan bread. The form below will take your preferences so we can order a mix of dishes to share.

Club members get all this for $20 and accompanying others for $30. Payment to our club bank account beforehand.

Corianders is one of our Boulder Bay Classic supporters and have a great selection of curries. You can check out their menu here.

You need to sign up so we can confirm numbers for the restaurant.

Holloway Memorial Cross Country

The Holloway is organised by Sumner and has traditionally been one of the harder races on the calendar by being a bit longer and having ‘hills’! It’s a great course at Motukarara and ideal for mud larks if we get a bit of rain. If you intend run in a grade out side your normal age grade please write this in the comments box.

Information about the race, start times and distances, can be found here.

Entries must be in by Monday 21st June 8:00pm

Andrew Reese Memorial Relay

The new location in Rangiora was due for its first outing last year but events led to the inaugural efforts of the North Canterbury club being cancelled, so it will be a new experience for everyone this year on the 12th June.

The 4 x 5 km relay for Masters and Seniors, and 4 x 2 km for Juniors is the familiar format used here though distances are ‘guides’. It looks like these legs might be slightly longer, but a lot faster than the sandy terrain of the Lionel Fox.

Details of the event can be found here. Parking is on Millton Ave – drive through Rangiora on Ashley Rd towards the river and look for signs.
