You will all be familiar by now with the restrictions imposed by the Level 4 lock down and we strongly encourage you to abide by these.  How it affects us as a club is as follows:

The AGM has been postponed with a date to be confirmed.  We will look at the possibility of posting the various reports online and setting up an electronic voting form to elect officers and pass relevant motions necessary for club compliance.

Group training sessions are cancelled until further notice.  You are allowed to train in your immediate area, with those in your household ‘bubble’ if you wish, but you must keep a 2m distance from other members of the public.

If you are running on trails be mindful of this when you pass other track users.  If it’s necessary to maintain your distance step off the track to let them pass.  Also be mindful that using tracks and trails has an increased risk of falls and injury – you don’t want to be the one who needs assistance after a fall, so decide wisely before you embark on a trail run.

Run in your area.  You should not be driving to get to a training spot.

Canterbury Cross Country

All races through to the end of May have been cancelled or postponed.  This means that the first event on the calendar will be the Holloway at Motukarara on June 13th.  This is a race the club organises and we will be in regular contact with Athletics Canterbury regarding the staging of this race.  We hope it will go ahead but of course will be guided by AC and Ministry of Health decisions.

A series of ‘Virtual Runs’ has been organised by AC in conjunction with CANRUN.  Unfortunately the day these were to be launched things changed and they have been put on hold as it encouraged athletes to travel to various spots around the city to complete the runs.  They will be available if circumstances change enough for it to be practical.
