The club is going to celebrate the end of the winter cross country season by holding a club weekend in Hanmer Springs from Friday 13 to Sunday 15 September. It is open to all club members and their families and is a great way to run and socialize with other members of the club.
Nothing too serious or formal is proposed – groups will be organised depending on what people want to do and how long they want to run for. There are plenty of options for running, from an epic Mt Isobel climb to gentle forest runs on well formed tracks.
Hanmer is a place for a lot of other activity – there is an orienteering course, table tennis, petanque, heaps of bike tracks, a golf course, the hot pools, mini golf, fishing…so there will be no problem finding other things to do.
We will be staying at the Hanmer Springs Forest and the club committee has agreed to pay the accommodation costs for the weekend (other family members $28 per adult, $12 5-15 yrs per night). Most likely we will be in one of the wings of the Ensor Lodge. We will also have access to a kitchen and lounge area. More information on the camp can be found on the link below.
The plan is for people to make their way up on Friday afternoon or evening, have group runs in the a.m. on Saturday, other activity in the p.m., and shared pot luck dinner on Saturday night. Sunday is early run (if you want) and clean-up. Check out is 11 a.m. but plenty will use the rest of the day to go for a bike ride, a walk, golf, re-visit the pools…
More details about what you need to bring will follow later in the month. Sign up as soon as possible as we need to give the camp probable numbers and secure our booking.
