The 2018-19 athletics season kicks off on Saturday 20 October at the newly finished Nga Puna Wai stadium.  It looks superb, and for most of the junior athletes this will be the first time they will get to compete regularly on an all weather surface.  I’m sure they will see quick improvements in their PB’s as they get used to consistent underfoot conditions.

Sadly, after many years of commitment, both Chris and Ann are retiring from their coaching roles.  They have been brilliant in the coaching, motivating, and organising of the children over a long period of time and the Sumner Running Club, along with all the athletes and parents who benefited from their involvement, are truly appreciative of their efforts.  Thank you bigly, Ann and Chris.

Which means Sumner is after a new Head Coach.  There will also be a need for a number of volunteer coach assistants who will help with the training sessions on Tuesday and Thursday nights.  The role of the Head Coach will be to provide guidance and instruction to the assistants, as well as structure the overall programme.

The job description for the Head Coach position can be found on the link below.  We would welcome enquiries from club members and associates.  Please contact the club at if you are interested in this role, or as one of the coaching assistants.  If you have any questions contact Lockie on 027 657-1010.
